Tie your self-worth to success and you’ll feel worthless
Until you make it—then you’ll feel empty
At no point in history have we had more pressure to succeed and to “live life to the fullest”.
The pressure causes us to tie our self-worth to success, meaning that we feel less worthy as humans until we “make it”. It’s an awful state of mind.
And if we’re lucky enough to ever reach the feeling of “making it”—which is doubtful, because in a status-centric world someone is always higher—it will only be replaced with an empty feeling. The feeling of “is this it?”
Back to feeling like shit, with a slightly different flavor.
I’m not discouraging anyone from having fun, getting rich, or going on adventures. Just don’t tie anything external to your self-worth. You’ll always be the same worthy human.
