Everything we seek through materialism, we must cultivate from within
What we are chasing, we are pushing away
What are we trying to achieve with upgrading our cars and houses, grinding careers we don’t have a passion for, and going on shopping sprees?
To feel more content with our life.
To be admired by others.
To cover up our worries.
We have been taught that this is the way, and for a fleeting moment it feels like it is. But we all know from experience that after the initial rush, we bounce further back from the feelings we’re desperately trying to embrace.
The more we buy, the hungrier we get.
The more we seek admiration, the less we receive actual love and respect.
The deeper we push our worries, the bigger they grow, until they cannot be forgotten anymore—even for a moment.
Everything we seek can be cultivated from within. If you are reading this text, you have the ability to do so.
Contentment will come through grounding ourselves to the present moment.
Worries can be let go by inspection and reflection.
Love and respect from others will follow once you truly love and respect yourself.
Stop the chase.
