Do I want this, or do I want to look like someone with this?

Personal needs are easily met

This is a question I often ask myself. Do I want this item for my own benefit, or do I mostly want to signal to others that I am the kind of person who buys things like this?

The same can be applied to experiences. Am I taking this vacation to improve my state of mind or show off what an exciting life I’m living?

When you start prioritizing buying and doing for personal well-being—instead of living a good looking life—you’ll notice how little you need to feel content.
